Linda Mai

Linda Mai grew up in Wyoming and Nebraska, but education, careers, and family have since taken her to live in Iowa, Missouri, Texas, and Oklahoma. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at Graceland University, and her Master’s Degree at the University of North Texas.

She currently lives with the love of her life, Chris, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Together they have seven children and twelve grandchildren, spread coast to coast and in between. Juggling schedules and squeezing in trips to see them can be difficult but is always a priority.

Over the years Linda has worked with children in a variety of ways: third grade teacher, children’s choir director, art appreciation teacher, Sunday school teacher, and girl scout leader. She’s also worked as office manager in a family law practice for years, served as HOA president, and currently enjoys playing in the church handbell choir.

Her hobbies include travel, stateside and international, along with scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, camping, rafting, fishing, and ATV riding. She wears an unseen badge of courage in also being a breast cancer survivor.

Writing in rhyme is something Linda enjoys. She has worked at it, continuing to take courses and hone her craft. Linda is active in SCBWI, participates in several critique groups, and served as a judge for Angie Karcher’s 2018 Best in Rhyme Award.

Linda primarily writes picture books for younger readers but has a couple middle grade novels in the mix. Helping reluctant readers find something they want to read is one of her goals. She looks forward to each grand adventure ahead, immersed in the world of words and books!
